AI-Powered Video in 2025: A Shift Toward Personalized and Interactive Content

It goes without saying that AI is a fast-moving technology. In 2024 alone, we saw significant improvements in the AI technology available to those in the L&D space.

Within AI video more specifically, we’ve seen massive advances in AI avatar quality, the ability to transform existing documents into polished video outputs, and even the ability to create an avatar of yourself in minutes without equipment.

Although it’s difficult to predict exactly where we’ll be in a year’s time, if one thing’s clear – we’ll certainly be seeing a push for more personalized and interactive learning experiences in 2025.

Nearly 60% of L&D teams are already using AI in some content capacity – and most of those teams already clearly understand the ways that AI tools allow you to produce more content faster. However, the quantity of content isn’t as important as content quality.

In 2025, we’re sure to see a greater emphasis on content quality in addition to speed. Instead of asking what AI tools are needed to save time on content creation, we’ll begin to see more teams prioritizing tools with AI features that have the ability to meaningfully improve learning experiences.

For many, that will mean evaluating the capabilities of AI tools to create personalized and interactive content. Let’s take a closer look at what that might look like.

Leveraging interactivity to encourage active learning

While it is true that video is a far more engaging medium than text or audio alone, a static video isn’t guaranteed to hold your audience’s attention for long.

One way to mitigate this is by turning to microlearning – the practice of breaking your material into smaller bite-sized snippets that better hold your viewer’s attention. This is one great strategy that many teams find incredibly effective.

Another option is to explore interactive video content, which allows your viewers to actively engage with the content rather than passively consume it. Some AI video tools like Colossyan have made big strides with interactive video features this year. For example, Colossyan’s branching feature allows for a choose-your-own-adventure style of content where a viewer’s choice impacts the content they’re shown next.

Branching scenarios are an incredibly effective way to create scenario-based training content, as it allows the viewer to immerse themselves in the scenario and watch the results of their decisionmaking play out.

Combined with multiple-choice quizzes that provide concrete insight into learner comprehension throughout the content, these interactive features present a robust way of centering learners and allowing them to directly engage with the learning material.

There’s little debate that active learning has a significant impact on ensuring positive learning outcomes. And as L&D teams are increasingly looking to AI tools as a way to boost learner performance, we’re sure to see a greater adoption and focus on interactive learning in 2025.

The future of content personalization

While one-size-fits-all content might be easiest to create, personalization is another technique that can engage learners more effectively.

After all, aren’t you more likely to pay attention to content that feels custom made for you, rather than kept generic for mass appeal?

Custom AI avatars already allow companies to personalize their training content for their audience, such as by creating an avatar of a company leader or a recognizable trainer instead of using actors.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg, and as AI tools continue to increase in adoption, personalization is a key area that will allow learning content to reach new heights.

One AI feature we’ll see in 2025 is the use of conversational AI avatars, which can be used as tutors, trainers, help desk workers, customer support agents, and more.

Real-time, natural conversations with avatars are becoming increasingly feasible due to advancements in large language models (LLMs) and speech synthesis. A real-time avatar will have the capability for both active listening and contextual understanding, allowing for many different applications across customer service, training, and content generation.

Imagine being able to hold a conversation with an avatar that’s been trained on all of your company's policies and procedures, allowing them to answer any question you ask in real time. Instead of passively consuming content, you’ll be able to actively engage with an avatar.

We aren’t far away from this becoming a reality, and it’s certainly a feature we can expect to see in 2025. Plus, as AI models become more efficient and specialized, we’ll begin to see higher fidelity interactions that feel natural – allowing for AI-generated learning experiences that aren’t just more realistic, but also more personalized.
